Wolfgang “Woolie” Reitherman and I were alone in the room. Woolie had started as an animator, well known for his work on Goofy in the shorts and Monstro the Whale in Pinocchio. This one of the Nine Old Men had lately been moving ahead of his peers and the other directors like Ben Sharpsteen and Clyde Geronimi to become the predominant feature animation director. As the Old Maestro (that's Walt) was turning his attention to the parks and TV production, responsibility for animation fell more on Woolie's shoulders.
