Color has tremendous power to communicate the mood of your story. It can express emotion, clarify motivation, and enhance the entire meaning of your piece. A farmer’s lush green field means something totally different if instead it’s yellow-brown; a hero’s ride off into the sunset becomes a ride into the depths of hell with a tweak in hue; a young boy’s first kiss has a different connotation if the recipient of the kiss turns green instead of blushing red.
