Appendix D Animation Terms

Alpha: A fourth color channel in the RGB color model that represents transparency. Alpha values can range from completely transparent to completely opaque. Not supported by all file formats.

Animatic: A storyboard that has been put onto video or film with a soundtrack to give a better idea of the finished product.

Animated GIF: Solid-color animated graphic file format that doesn’t include audio. It’s best suited for small frame sizes, and ideal for low-impact animations on the web.

Animation Path: A line that objects follow during the course of an animation, also called a motion path.
