Facial Animation and Lip Syncing
Once you start on the initial steps to animation your biggest obstacle is combining both sound and movement.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in the art of facial animation and lip syncing. Initially you need to master techniques that map phonemes to mouth positions. Visemes are the shapes mouths make when sounding the consonants and vowels that form the word. These sounds are phonemes, and are the smallest utterance of sound that string together to make words.
