I was first interested in making documentaries but became seduced by animation at art school. I was excited by the graphic and narrative possibilities. Also, the solitude and control (like having your very own theatre and being in charge of sets, costumes, music . . . EVERYTHING!). But I still work much like a documentary filmmaker in that I like to gather images and ideas rather haphazardly—then find order in the chaos.
