Burnout and personality

Burnout happens because of the pressures of work. So why doesn’t everyone in a workplace burn out? The experience of burnout involves exhaustion, cynicism and declining performance and productivity. Burnout is also influenced by context: the workplace context determines whether a person will become burnt out. What actually triggers the individual to burn out and the way that the burnout is expressed will be determined by the context of the individual’s personality. We are all different, and whether burnout emerges due to a given work situation is influenced by the type of person we are.
