FILE SYSTEM MONITORING
Over the span of 20 years, disk drives have exponentially increased in volume while decreasing in price. File systems may span multiple disk drives and take advantage of fast solid-state technologies to the point where today’s laptops easily hold the equivalent of the Harry Potter series 40,000 times over. (It will take several more years before we start to measure laptop drive sizes in units of Libraries of Congress. Nevertheless, we easily connect multiple terabytes of storage to personal computers.)
