Potential resolutions of the submission of will problem lie in unions and work cooperatives

Unions, which represent workers, are one way workers can obtain some real protections and may provide members with a valuable sense of agency. Another potential direction for increasing worker autonomy is represented by cooperatives with employee ownership; a number of these are operative today.

The organized, unionized workforce offers some distinct psychological advantages to workers. The first and presumably strongest positive effect can be attributed to objective improvements and/or enforcement of such job features as reasonable work pace, safety, promotions, pay, hours, ...
