PROJECT 10 CITY ROOFTOPS

The desk where I like to paint is located near a window with a view overlooking a courtyard. From this vantage point, I can see my neighbors’ windows, which are covered with curtains of various colors and patterns; little balconies full of flowers and plants; and sometimes, I even have a glimpse inside the flats. I can see the details of the rooftops, the rain gutters, and the chimneys of various sizes.

Here in Paris, the roofs have an interesting pattern of crossing lines and scale patterns in a beautiful range of blues and grays. The walls are made of a light beige stone and the chimneys are bright red brick.

Inspired by those blue, beige, and orange colors, let’s paint a view from the window, looking out on the rooftops ...
