Before You Begin
Whether you plan to use the IBM Cloudscape installer to create a development environment, or directly deploy an IBM Cloudscape database engine (or an application with the engine built into it), you need to set up your system for the installation of the database engine code (and any add-on components). In this section, we'll introduce you to some key terms that you need to understand and the steps you can take to ensure that your environment is ready for installation.
