9. Managing to Milestones
At this point, I would like nothing better than to give you the formula to ensure that all your app projects are successful. Even though I’d like to, I can’t—because there is no such formula. The state of the art in software development has not yet reached the point where success can be guaranteed—or even assured. Based on the advances of the past 20 years, I would not expect software development to reach that level of maturity in my lifetime. The closest I think we can come to a formula for successful software projects is to set and work toward short, frequent milestones.
