13. Testing

An old friend I’ve worked with at a few different companies is fond of the phrase, “You get what you test for.” The unspoken corollary is “Anything you don’t test for, you aren’t guaranteed (or likely) to get.” Over and over through the years, I’ve found him to be right on this. Testing is where the rubber meets the road, so to speak. It’s really the ultimate place to make sure you get the app that you want (and have paid for).

Types of Testing

There are several different kinds of testing. Chapter 3, “Prototyping and Wireframing Your App,” discusses testing user interfaces and getting feedback on visual design. This chapter, on the other hand, focuses on testing functionality.
