The Domain Name System (DNS) is a critical service. It is so critical in fact that OS X Server sets up its own DNS service if one is not provided for it in certain circumstances. Without a properly working DNS, problems will occur with certain services, and as a result, it is important to understand what DNS is and how to manage it for OS X and other computers.
Although there are many aspects of DNS, this lesson concentrates on what is needed to make OS X work properly.
