Installing Software

Abstract

Every application has an installation process. Prepare for the installation by reading the documentation and gathering the needed information on vendor-provided worksheets. Develop a project plan. Practice installations on your DEV or TEST environments, so the process runs flawlessly on Production. As always, document everything you do so it can be repeated. An installation can affect multiple servers: application server, report server, and clustered servers. After the installation, check for updates.
