Abstract
Big Data is an essential tool in the armory of those who protect us from natural, man-made, or malicious harm. Its application into areas that support our everyday existence, such as the critical infrastructure (CI), is an example of where meaningful benefits can accrue from its use for the CI itself; for the citizens who depend on it; and, for the communities it affects. Organizations that protect us, the CI, and our communities must come together to plan, prepare, and respond to such harmful events.
