Working with Web Forms Controls

Now that you've seen the Visual Studio tools for working with the Web Form controls, we'll look at the controls themselves. In this chapter, we'll start to explore which controls are available, how they work, and how they are rendered to HTML for the browser.

There are a lot of Web Forms controls. So many, in fact, that I can't cover them all in a single chapter. We are going to start with the basic controls—the ones that are the most commonly used. Later chapters will explain how the more advanced controls work. For example, we will look at the data controls in Chapters18 and 19, and the Web Forms support for authentication in Chapter 34.
