How To Do Preliminary Sizing Of Mechanical Equipment Space
During preliminary design, one of the architect’s first needs related to the HVAC system is to determine approximately how much space will be required by the various components: air-conditioning equipment, fan rooms, boilers, major duct space, and the like. Space requirements are dependent on the type of system selected and the capacity of the system, which in turn is dependent on the building type, climate, total area (or volume), building construction, heat loss and heat gain, and other variables.
