Heat Loss Calculations
Common Heat Loss Terms
Conductivity (k): the number of British thermal units per hour that pass through one square foot of homogeneous material one inch thick when the temperature differential is one degree Fahrenheit. The units are Btu/h ft F.
Conductance (C): the number of British thermal units per hour that pass through one square foot of homogeneous material of a given thickness when the temperature differential is one degree Fahrenheit. The units are Btu/hr ft2 F.
Resistance (R): the number of hours needed for one Btu to pass through a given thickness of a solid when the temperature differential is one degree Fahrenheit.
