Chapter 3. Requirements of network systems
Abstract:
Network systems constitute the infrastructure over which end systems communicate to implement distributed applications. Network systems need to meet the requirements set by end-system applications. Similarly, network systems may need to meet requirements set forth by network operators. Due to the diverse needs of emerging network applications and services and operational concerns, requirements for network systems span a range of issues and parameters, ranging from performance to cost and power consumption. These requirements can be divided into functional requirements and performance requirements. To determine if network systems meet their requirements, it is necessary to have suitable evaluation ...
