Enhancing the Teachbot
Radio control servos make great robot motors. But they suffer from two disadvantages: as robot drive motors they tend to be a little slow, and control over the full range of speed is limited.
Enter the DC gear motor, available in literally thousands of sizes, styles, and other permutations. With the right gear ratio, DC gear motors can zip your robot across the floor; with the right electronics, DC gear motors provide a high level of control of that speed.
