12.1 Introduction
In the last few chapters, we’ve dealt primarily with manipulating numbers and performing logical operations. Another common task that microprocessors usually perform is searching for data in memory from a list of elements, where an element could be sampled data stored from sensors or analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), or even data in a buffer that is to be transmitted to an external device.
