Abstract
The landscape of modern computing has witnessed a paradigm shift with the proliferation of Distributed Systems and the revolutionary emergence of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). This chapter moves towards the synergistic relationship between these two technological frontiers, unraveling the identified implications they bear on the fabric of contemporary information systems. Note that Distributed Systems, characterized by the decentralized distribution of processing and storage across interconnected nodes, have evolved to address the challenges faced by scalability, fault tolerance, and resilience in the face of diverse and dynamic workloads. As our reliance on interconnected devices and cloud computing intensifies, understanding the principles governing Distributed Systems becomes imperative. Complementing this narrative is the rise of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), epitomized by blockchain, which introduces a novel approach to secure, transparent, and tamper-resistant record-keeping. DLT not only transforms traditional notions of trust but also fosters a new era of decentralized applications and smart contracts. Its ...
