Agent Architectures
I have followed an agent-oriented presentation of the subject matter of artificial intelligence. Although mainly adhering to the agent theme, I have also stressed that the technologies used to build intelligent agents also find other applications: in image classification and analysis, in expert consulting and reasoning systems, in scheduling and planning, and in natural language processing systems, to name just a few. Often, I have assumed that the agents under discussion were robots, but many of the ideas apply to nonphysical agents as well. In this final chapter, I speculate about how the various AI techniques might be integrated in intelligent agent architectures.
