Why You Should Read This Book

In my many commentaries and editorials over the decades, I provide a long-term perspective of issues, campaigns, and phenomena. Going beyond the flavor of the month and conveying a perspective of historic embeddedness is the key purpose of this book. We can learn from the past, not only by understanding what was done before us, but also by appreciating the context in which changes occur. The commentary format allows the reader to escape the major studying approach. Ongoing involvement with policy makers and firms has taught me that many people do not read academic books or even high-quality journal articles.
