Image Calibration and Compositing
Even with the advanced sensors available today, astronomical images may be affected by artifacts caused by sensor imperfections or telescope limitations. Some artifacts will appear regardless of the type of celestial object photographed. Several methods and algorithms, specific to astronomy, can be employed to reduce or eliminate these artifacts and make the images more scientifically accurate and aesthetically pleasing.
