Most of the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB consists of word problems such as “Movie tickets cost $9.50 each. If seven people buy tickets, how much did they pay all together?” Even a one-line problem like this can involve several steps and more than one kind of math operation. Before we learn how to break down word problems, we must review the math behind them.
