A time traveler dialing into mid-2022 from a few years earlier would not believe that their time machine was functioning normally. After all, when they left, people were spending more or less the same time period at work premises as they had done previously in their working lives, undertaking the same sort of commute and negotiating the same sort of working relationships that they had done in the past.
