CHAPTER 34

Develop the Workforce for the Future

Automation has inspired science fiction authors and futurists for years, but today is not fiction. Robots are here making many employees wonder if they will be the next job casualty, replaced by a machine. Experts estimate that 50 percent of the jobs as we know them today will be gone in 10 years. As in the past, those jobs will be replaced by different jobs requiring a different skill set (Bersin 2017b). Talent development will be responsible for developing employees for these new jobs.

You are a trusted advisor to your leaders, who expect you to prepare them for the workforce of the future and develop employees for the jobs of the future.
