One of the best role models of intentional attention I know is president of High Point University, Dr. Nido Qubein. I've observed him as a speaker, philanthropist, and we've served together on a national industry board. When you meet Dr. Qubein, he is impeccably dressed, eloquent, and elegant in every environment, a continuous learner, positioning himself to learn from the best, and generously sharing what he learns.

He is an accomplished businessman, generous donor, board member of multiple companies, talented speaker, and prolific author. He constantly impresses with professional achievements, personal drive, commitment, and demonstrated integrity.

His day begins at 4 a.m. He focuses on giving first, writing at least four notes of appreciation daily, constantly studying business and world leaders, inviting them to be interviewed at High Point to share thinking and success stories with students. He is committed to his students, their families, the community, and our environment.

He is grooming future leaders, creating extraordinary experiences for students and impacting the city of High Point, North Carolina, with development of infrastructure on campus and surrounding areas. One of his most impressive skills I noticed while in his company is that every student who approached him, he knew their name! He's not even their teacher; he's the president of the whole university.
