From day one, game-audio folks have complained about not being recognized for their outstanding efforts, by their peers and the public. Let's start by asking whether this is important, then look at the ideal approach to this issue.
Why should game-audio folks be given awards? For one thing, creating good game audio is very difficult. It isn't as important as developing a new kind of heart medicine or solving the overpopulation problem, but it's hard compared with plugging instruments into amps in a garage and jamming away.
