In a number of contexts it is interesting to be able to see what the signal level has been over a longer period of time. This can be done either by plotting the level along a time axis or by performing a statistical analysis that shows the level distribution over a time period.

LEVEL RECORDER

The level recorder is an instrument that has been used for nearly all forms of sound analysis. The recorder can either be mechanical with paper and pen or it can be a part of a computerized system, where data is collected on an ongoing basis and printed out afterwards.
