Equalization

Equalizers are incredibly handy tools, both for fixing problems and for getting elements to come together nicely during the mix.

If you want to use an equalizer effectively, you have to understand where different parts of a sound fit in the audio band.

Then, knowing approximately what frequency you want to control, tune the equalizer by ear.

Equalizers are precise tone controls, changing the timbre of a sound by making one part of the spectrum louder or another softer. But they didn’t start out that way.
