Equalizers are incredibly handy tools, both for fixing problems and for getting elements to come together nicely during the mix. |

If you want to use an equalizer effectively, you have to understand where different parts of a sound fit in the audio band. |

Then, knowing approximately what frequency you want to control, tune the equalizer by ear. |
Equalizers are precise tone controls, changing the timbre of a sound by making one part of the spectrum louder or another softer. But they didn’t start out that way.
