It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Reverberation can create distance, depth, and spaciousness in recordings, whether we capture it with microphones during the recording process or add it later during mixing. Reverberation use has evolved into distinct conventions for various music genres and eras of recording. Specific reverberation techniques do not always translate across musical genres, although the general principles of reverberation are the same.
