Back in 1969, Woodstock was a modest weekend concert that unexpectedly drew 400,000 people, became a “gathering of the tribes,” and in memorable ways defined a generation, closing down the sixties. No one was prepared for what would happen, and it took the promoters 10 years to break even after paying for all the damages.
