Chapter 6. Augmented Frames

Now that you understand the challenges of integrating augmentation into workflows, we’re going to introduce you to a concept that goes beyond simply providing a technical infrastructure to help you tackle these challenges successfully. This concept, called Augmented Frames, is rooted in the TRICUS principles of workflow augmentation: timeliness, relevance, insight, credibility, unobtrusiveness, and specificity.

Augmented frames provide a dynamic, flexible way to view, analyze, and manage different segments of an organization’s requirements. This is a more nuanced and detailed approach than traditional data access, static business classifications, or predefined dimensions (such as divisions, business units, and product groups). With this approach, you analyze data through different lenses, or “frames,” each representing a different perspective or subset of your company’s business objects. This approach is designed to bring information about key business-object types into workflows and use that insight to automate parts of business processes.

This concept is not limited to being part of comprehensive workflows; you can also use it to integrate these insights and capabilities directly into tools and processes, making them more like embedded analytics.

Before we dive into this concept, let’s look at what business objects are and why we need to focus primarily on them when we talk about augmentation.
