Chapter 10 Implementing Call Applications on Cisco IOS Gateways

This chapter describes the functions of gateway call applications and explains the differences between Tool Command Language (Tcl) scripting and Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML or VXML) functions.

Also discussed is the process of obtaining voice applications by loading an auto-attendant Tcl script to a gateway. This script allows outside callers to enter the internal directory number they want to be connected to using their telephone keypad. The auto-attendant script collects the dual-tone multifrequency (DTMF) tones and then routes the call accordingly.
