Nongraphical objects represent the block definitions, named styles, and other objects that are stored in a drawing but aren't present in model space or one of the named layouts. These objects can and typically do affect the display of graphical objects placed in model space or a named layout, though. While model space and named layouts are typically not thought of as nongraphical objects, they are.
