Displacing a Layer

Lesson 23

In this lesson, displace a layer to simulate a flag flapping in the wind.

You can distort a layer by displacing its pixels along the X and Y axes. This changes the appearance of a layer, making some parts of it seem closer to the camera than others. The displacement of each pixel is determined by the color value of the corresponding pixel in the displacement source, which can be another image.

In this lesson:

  • Create a displacement source to the composite by adding a solid layer with a Fractal Noise operator.

  • Use the luminance channel of the displacement source to apply a Displace operator to the layer ...
