Manage Quotas and Locks
Quotas and locks are not new to SharePoint, but being able to manage them via Windows PowerShell in SharePoint 2010 offers a great way to ensure that our SharePoint environments are tuned by placing storage limits on the amount of data that can be stored in a Site Collection.
You can configure quotas and locks through the Central Administration site by navigating to the Application Management page. From this page, you can configure Quota Templates by selecting Specify Quota Templates. Alternatively, you can apply and configure quotas and locks per Site Collection by selecting the Configure Quotas And Locks link.
