Provision Managed Metadata Services

Managed Metadata Services (MMS) is a new service with SharePoint 2010 that seeks to address two core needs that were sorely missing in SharePoint 2007: the ability to centrally manage terms, or keywords and key phrases, that can be used throughout a Farm or Web Application to describe data, and the ability to manage Content Types centrally and publish those Content Types to multiple Site Collections.

Provisioning MMS follows our core Service Application provisioning pattern with only minor exceptions in how a couple of the steps are performed. The following list includes the steps that you will need to perform to provision MMS:
