Appendix C. The vCenter Orchestrator vApp

With the 5.0 release of VMware vSphere, the Orchestrator team decided to do something a bit different. They stepped out of lockstep with the official release of vSphere and, in addition to launching the vCO 4.2 standalone install, they launched a vApp, or virtual appliance, to lower the barrier to entry when deploying vCO.

Note

If they broke with the vSphere release schedule and launched the vApp, why are we just now touching on it in an appendix? Well, the vApp may have indeed been part of the grand plan when I started writing, but it was not readily available until after I had finished most of this book.
