Are you interested in creating your own custom Automator actions? If so, then you’re in luck. Mac OS X includes the tools you need to get started, and dozens of websites, books, and forums are ready to help, too.

Automator involves a number of technologies, including AppleScript, Cocoa, Interface Builder, Objective-C, and Xcode. You’ll need to become familiar with these in order to begin developing actions of your own. Once you understand these, however, building actions is a snap. This appendix outlines some valuable resources to put you on the right course.
