CHAPTER 8: COFFEE TALK

I took Sherm out of the building to a coffee shop. We went to one nearby that I knew wasn’t full of people from the company. It was one of the few stores still occupied in a slowly decaying strip mall. With the prior occupants of the empty storefronts forced out of business by the economy, there wasn’t much rent left for the mall owner to maintain the facility. That was too bad. I liked the place because it was local … not a chain. It also gave me a place to come when I needed to clear my head a bit and didn’t want to be surrounded by people from the company, especially in the middle of the afternoon when they should all be hard at work.
