CHAPTER 13: NO PLAN SURVIVES CONTACT WITH REALITY
I sat alone in the conference room. I’d reserved it for 30 minutes before the meeting was to begin. I wanted the time to center myself, to get ready. CET was at a critical point and so was I. The business was losing faith in our ability to keep its service available. People were expecting me to produce a solution for them. This was going to be the most important meeting I’d led in front of leadership since I got here. And if it didn’t go well … then it would probably be my last meeting at this company.
I was calm, the calm that comes from being confident … not the false bravado of someone trying to convince themselves, as well as others. I was calm because I was ready.
