Some Fundamentals of RS-422 and RS-485
RS-422 and RS-485 are other specifications for types of physical connections between serial devices. The actual data transmitted and the voltage transitions used to transmit the individual bytes follow the same pattern as the RS-232 interface that is the standard for PCs.
In contrast to RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 are data transmission interfaces that use balanced differential signals. Both interfaces are standardized in the EIA/TIA-422 and EIA/TIA-485 Standards.
