THE NEWS ROUND-UP

The news round-up programme is different from a bulletin in that it may use older stories and also longer versions of stories.

Content and style

Older stories means by hours, not days. A news programme at, say, 6 p.m. may well include anything from that day’s events that is worth having and is still current or can be adapted to be current. Many listeners will have heard nothing since they left for work at 8.15 a.m.

Presentation of these programmes will be different too. For example, they can be double-headed – in other words, using two presenters. The style can be less formal, even chatty, and there may well be ‘guest appearances’ from other people giving travel and financial reports.
