When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Mounts and cranes
Standard studio pedestals (peds) are big, heavy and expensive. However, they let the camera operator pan, tilt, crab, track and elevate beautifully. They glide perfectly across a flat floor, but have a large footprint (i.e. they take up considerable floor space). If you have a small camera you want to squeeze into a tight space, then a lightweight tripod will be more useful.
Be aware of the limitations of standard peds. Typically they can elevate to 150 cm, or depress down to 65 cm. You may need to get lower, in which case you either need a different ped, or an arm mounted on top that allows the camera to get lower.
