14 Battery Lifecycle Information Management

When the electric vehicle is driven, the battery management system collects the dynamic information such as current and voltage every moment and updates the SoC, SoH, and other real-time status of the battery. In engineering, generally, these data generated online will be saved into the local memory of the BMS, regularly taken out, and classified into a unified data management center. The data generated in the whole using a process from the factory to elimination is saved in order to realize the information of the battery in the whole life cycle, which can facilitate checking the work history of the battery at a later period and then providing data support for judging the battery degradation or finding out the cause of battery failure.

The informatization of the full battery lifecycle is actually about three questions that people are most concerned about, i.e.

  1. What type of information should be saved?
  2. How can the information be saved and managed?
  3. How often is the information saved?

Before these three questions are answered, it is first necessary to answer the questions about the real-time battery data and the data size. The corresponding specific information scheme can be designed only after calculating the total data size. For this purpose, this section will systematize the possible data generated by the battery during its use in order to analyze the processing process of the battery from collection to final output and introduce ...
