SCHOOL OF FINE ARTS

Rosemary was born to a Ugandan father and a Kenyan mother in Meru, Kenya. The family moved to Nairobi during the 1940s. At school, Rosemary became interested in art. She loved it so much that she even drew on the walls at her home. One of her teachers realized her talent and suggested Rosemary study art at a university. In 1950, Rosemary became the first woman to attend the Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts at Makerere University. While there, Rosemary studied design, painting, and sculpture.
