Recently, while facilitating a leadership development workshop for a group of manufacturing leaders, I (Kelly) shared my first day of work story. After graduating with my degree in mechanical engineering and taking a job with Hewlett-Packard (HP), my manager greeted me with some of the most valuable words I have ever received. “I’m going to let you make mistakes,” he said.
